“THUG LIFE”

THE HATE YOU GIVE LITTLE INFANTS F**** EVERYBODY. What you feed us as seeds, grows and blows up in your face.
Tupac Shakur grew up surrounded by revolutionaries, individuals ready to dedicate their lives to their beliefs. Among these figures was Mutulu Shakur, Tupac's stepfather, a freedom fighter and revolutionary healer known for his acupuncture work. In 1986, Mutulu Shakur was arrested and later convicted for a series of armed robberies in addition to helping Tupac's Aunt, Assata Shakur escape from prison. For his supposed “involvement” he was sentenced to a 60-year prison term.
Throughout Tupac's rise to fame, he maintained a close relationship with Mutulu Shakur. Seeking wisdom and direction, he made regular visits to his stepfather in prison. Together with Dr. Mutulu Shakur and a coalition of other respected OGs they created the "Code of THUG LIFE" This framework consisted of 26 rules and ethical principles, meticulously designed to cultivate peace within their community.
In April 1992, just days before the LA riots erupted, Tupac played a pivotal role in getting rival gang members, Crips and Bloods to come together to sign the "Code of THUG LIFE" at the "Truce Picnic" in Watts, California. The code was designed to put order to the violence on the streets. THUG LIFE happens when the system fails people despite them doing everything to legally succeed.
Tupac Shakur, a name that resonates with the heartbeat of a generation, stood as a living embodiment of Thug Life, a philosophy often misunderstood. In the midst of his flaws and imperfections, he shed a light on the struggles that many face. The kids growing up in these concrete jungles aren't just statistics; they are young souls in search of a way out of the cycle.
What if we could turn that energy towards solutions? What if we saw beyond the surface and learned the stories behind every scar, every hesitant smile? We can honor not only his memory but also the aspirations of those yearning to flourish against all odds.
HELLA INSPIRED.
