"Jasmine Crockett"

Jasmine Crockett, born on March 29, 1981, in St. Louis, Missouri, is a attorney and politician dedicated to protecting civil liberties and uplifting underrepresented communities. Raised in a family committed to public service, with her father as a preacher and teacher and her mother a USPS employee, Crockett’s values of justice and equality were instilled early. She earned her B.A. in Business Administration from Rhodes College and her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, becoming licensed to practice law in Texas, Arkansas, and federal courts.

Crockett began her career as a public defender, tirelessly representing vulnerable clients and fighting systemic injustices. She later opened her own civil rights, criminal defense, and personal injury law firm, where she took on high-profile cases, including pro bono representation of over 400 peaceful protesters and the families of victims of police brutality, such as Jordan Edwards and Jacqueline Craig.

In 2020, Crockett was elected to the Texas House of Representatives, becoming the youngest Black lawmaker and the sole Black freshman during the 87th Legislative Session. Despite navigating one of the most conservative sessions in Texas history, she filed more bills than any other freshman, passing bipartisan criminal justice reforms and advocating for voting rights, labor protections, and environmental justice. Her leadership earned her numerous accolades, including being named Freshman of the Year by the Dallas Observer and recognition on The Root 100 List of Most Influential African Americans.

In January 2023, Crockett succeeded the late Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson as the U.S. Representative for Texas’ 30th Congressional District. Elected as Freshman Leadership Representative, she serves on the House Committees on Oversight and Accountability, Agriculture, and the Judiciary Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. Crockett remains a passionate advocate for voting rights, healthcare access, and economic equity.
